The list of achievements and exploits of Bob Dylan it was already longer than that of any other musician living on Earth, but Duluth’s can say from today that he adds another milestone to his career, and not exactly one less: thanks to the volume of sales of his new job, «Rough and Rowdy Ways», has become the first artist to make it onto the Top40 chart of Billboard in every decade since the sixties.
As reported by Billboard, the album debuted with an equivalent of 53,000 units, its highest position on the charts for over a decade with “Together Through Life” in 2009. With this new album, the thirty-ninth of his discography, Dylan has entered the top 10 albums 23 times, and 50 in the top 40 in the last six decades: eight times in the sixties, fourteen in the seventies, seven in the eighties, four in the nineties, seven in the 2000s, and ten in 2010.
Dylan’s first appearance on this prestigious list was in 1963, when “The Freewheelin ‘Bob Dylan” ranked 125th in the Top200 (it would eventually reach 22nd). His first Top10 was with “Bringing It All Back Home” (number 6), and he reached number one for the first time with “Planet Waves” in 1974. However, in terms of songs he had never reached number one until the recent publication. from “Murder Most Foul”, one of the singles from “Rough and Rowdy Ways”.
Dylan’s new work has received the unanimous applause from critics (also on ABC), who has dedicated compliments like these:
