On Tuesday, infectious disease expert Dr. Anthony Fauci made a disastrous prediction on coronavirus infection rates in the United States – stating that up to 100,000 Americans could be infected every day if the nation didn’t brought about no urgent behavior changes.

Fauci made a grim prediction as new cases of coronavirus increased 46% amid new outbreaks in the south and west.

“We now have over 40,000 new cases a day,” Fauci told a Senate committee during his testimony. “I wouldn’t be surprised if we go to 100,000 a day if it doesn’t go away, so I’m very worried,” he said.

“We can’t just focus on the areas that are experiencing a big increase. It puts the whole country in danger, “he said during an interview with Massachusetts Democrat Senator Elizabeth Warren.

The vice-presidential candidate asked Fauci if he would provide an estimate of the deaths in the United States, which he refused to do.

“I think it is important to tell you and the American public that I am very worried because it could get very bad,” he told her.

Fauci has repeatedly stressed the lack of sufficient social distancing in the country, urging people to avoid groups and to wear masks when they are in a position where they could be exposed to others.

“We will continue to have a lot of problems and there will be a lot of trouble if it does not stop,” he said.

“It’s going to be very worrying, I can guarantee you,” he said.

At the start of the hearing, Republican Senator Lamar Alexander begged President Donald Trump on Tuesday to wear a mask in public to encourage his MAGA followers – while the country’s top health officials appealed for distribution free masks to encourage their use.

“The president has many admirers,” said Tuesday Alexander, who chairs the Senate committee on health, education, work and pensions.

The former secretary of education then predicted: “They would follow his example, it would help put an end to this political debate. The stakes are too high for this political debate on pro-Trump and anti-Trump to continue.

“There is no doubt that wearing masks protects and protects you,” said Dr. Anthony Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergies and Infectious Diseases.

“The stakes are too high for the political debate on the pro-Trump and anti-Trump masks to continue,” said Alexander. He had to quarantine after coming into contact with an assistant who tested positive for the virus, but said he was protected by the staff member wearing a mask.

Alexander’s request came when Dr. Anthony Fauci agreed during his testimony with the suggestion of Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders that the government provide masks to the public for free.

“ Anything that promotes the use of masks, be it the distribution of free masks or any other mechanism that I am entirely in favor of, ” Fauci told Sanders, a failed democratic socialist to beat former Vice President Joe Biden in the battle for the Democratic nomination.

Fauci called the masks “extremely important,” saying that they protect both the wearer and those with whom they may come into contact.

“There is no doubt that wearing masks protects and protects you,” he said.

Fauci asked him: “Would you support an effort to considerably increase the production of high quality masks” and to “distribute them free of charge to all households in America?”

Director of the Centers for Disease Control, Dr. Robert Redfield, also pressed by Sanders on this idea, responded that “ universal masks ” were “ basically the most important thing we can do ” in the middle of the continued spread of the coronavirus pandemic.

Admiral Brett Giroir of the US Public Health Service Commissioned Corps, assistant secretary of health, agreed. “Yes, sir, I agree that it is very important because we have to support the wearing of the mask,” he told Sanders.

Senator Rand Paul, a Kentucky Republican who tested positive for the coronavirus earlier this year and attended a luncheon with colleagues while awaiting results, hit Fauci for making an unequivocal call to reopen schools.

“I don’t hear much certainty at all. I hear “maybe it depends,” said Paul.

Fauci who replied that it was a priority. In previous comments, he said: “ If you are in an area where you have some dynamics of infection, there are things that can be done creatively to change things like the school calendar., Alternate during the day, morning against evening, by allowing them in certain circumstances, online virtual lessons. “

Fauci said: “ These are the kinds of things that we have to take into account, but also and most importantly, we always strive to get children back to school for the unintended negative consequences that happen when we keep them out from school. ”
