The Attorney General of the Union (AGU) of Brazil released this Thursday the results of the diagnostic tests to Covid-19 carried out by Jair Bolsonaro last month. In the report sent to the federal court of São Paulo, the test results were negative.
«Medical report issued on March 18, 2020 by the Health Coordination of the Presidency of the Republic, in which it is certified that the President of the Republic is monitored by the respective medical team, being asymptomatic, having even carried out an examination to detect Covid -19, on the 12th and 17th of March, with the said exam giving non-reactive [negativo]», Read in a statement released by AGU.
The Brazilian newspaper The State of S. Paulo judicially requested a copy of Bolsonaro’s exams, which he always claimed to have tested negative for Covid-19, although he never presented evidence of it, having obtained a favorable opinion from judge Ana Lúcia Petri Betto.
However, since the AGU did not send the papers proving the results of the exams, the judge did not accept the report and gave 48 hours for the results to be delivered.
Several Brazilian media outlets had already tried to obtain a copy of Bolsonaro’s test results, invoking the access to information law, but saw their requests being denied by the Government.
Asked this Thursday about the matter, the Brazilian President said he had the legal right not to present the results of his exams.
