Emmendingen: Association for Jewish History and Culture Emmendingen eV.: Remembrance day January 27, 2021 – 76 years after the liberation of the Auschwitz-Birkenau extermination camp – online lecture on January 29th: “Conspiracy myths in times of the Corona” Lecture by Dr. Michael Blume

76 years after the liberation of the Auschwitz-Birkenau extermination camp by Red Army soldiers, the Association for Jewish History and Culture Emmendingen eV is commemorating the appalling crimes against humanity of the Nazi dictatorship on January 27th (International Holocaust Remembrance Day) and commemorates the millions of Jewish and non-Jewish people in Europe who were victims of the Shoah / Holocaust.
As part of the memorial, Carola Grasse (chairwoman) will read a poem and a text by the French Auschwitz survivor Charlotte Delbo.

The first major day of remembrance in the new year is unfortunately celebrated for a sad occasion, it reminds us of the 6 million victims of the Holocaust.
Due to the Corona measures, the commemoration will be celebrated differently this year than was possible in previous years.

In Emmendingen there is a non-public joint commemoration of the city of Emmendingen, the Jewish community and our association, during which two representatives speak a few words with a delay and lay down a memorial arrangement or a wreath. The Association for Jewish History and Culture begins, Carola Grasse will read a poem and a text by the French communist, resistance fighter and Auschwitz survivor Charlotte Delbo and then, with Monika Rachel Raija Miklis from the board of directors, put down a bouquet of flowers.

Then the Jewish community commemorates and afterwards Lord Mayor Stefan Schlatterer will give a short speech and lay a wreath.
