Given the current situation, with all the facilities closed, museums around the world are preparing to celebrate their International Day, the great event organized since 1977 by the International Committee of Museums (ICOM) every May 18, a virtual form. The activities will take place from Saturday 16 to Monday 18 May while the activity aimed at the professional sector, on Tuesday 19 and Wednesday 20 May. In the counties of Girona there are many centers that have decided to join the celebration adapting to the circumstances.
From the General Direction of the Cultural Heritage, with the collaboration of the Center of Telecommunications and Technologies of the Information (CTTI) and of the General Direction of Communication of the Department of the Presidency, have promoted 20 guided virtual visits that will realize live through the patrimoni.gencat Youtube channel. They will last approximately 20 minutes and will be run by museum directors, educators, curators, curators of exhibitions, etc.
The start will take place on Saturday, from 11 am, with a tour of the headquarters of the Museum of Archeology of Catalonia (MAC) in Empúries. It will be followed by visits to the Empordà museums in Figueres, Can Garriga in Lloret de Mar and the Palamós Fishing Museum. In the afternoon, you can visit the headquarters of Girona and Ullastret of the MAC, the Museum of Art of Girona and the Anchovy and Salt of L’Escala.

The Open Windows online initiative brings together 75 museums from around the country that have been recorded with their own media, mostly mobile devices, to show a taste of the rich heritage of museum collections and the work of professionals who work there.
