Led by a priest of the Orthodox Church, believers marched through the streets of the Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa on Thursday. With incense, chants and prayers, they hope to stop the spread of the corona virus. The head of the St. Joseph and St. Michael Church added: “We prayed with incense all night. And in the morning we put on our priestly robes and started to fill the air of the surroundings with the scent of incense. It is a biblical ritual so that God will receive the incense and keep the coronavirus disease away from us. We are full of faith and hope and that is why we performed this ritual. ” With the procession, the faithful hope that God’s wrath will subside and the coronavirus pandemic will end. Ethiopia is the second largest nation in Africa. And there are currently 16 confirmed cases of infection with the novel corona virus, according to official figures.
